3 days of Tarangire and the craters of Ngorongoro

These may just be the best 3 days you will spend on your next trip to Tanzania. Prepare to experience highlights of Tangire National Park and the World-Famous Ngorongoro crater. These 2 action-packed destinations will make your stay truly worthwhile.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Early morning pick-up from Arusha (or Moshi town) and drive further through the Masai Steppe via Makuyuni Junction all the way to the Tarangire National Park.

Ranking as the 6th largest National Park in Tanzania and covering an area of 2,600 square kilometers, The Tarangire National Park is most popular for its large elephant herds and mini-wildlife migration that takes place during the dry season which sees about 250,000 animals enter the park. The big numbers of elephants, wildlife migration, and baobab trees (these grow in the open acacia) in addition to the tree climbing African pythons give wonderful sightings to see which make Tarangire a popular destination on this short but action-packed Tanzania safari such as this one.

Later in the afternoon, we will drive out of the park and check in at the amazing Sangaiwe Tented Camp with great views over the plains and the Lake Burunge in the far horizon.

Dinner and overnight stay at an accommodation of your choice.

DAY 2: NGORONGORO CRATER

The Ngorongoro Crater in Northern Tanzania, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world. Some experts argue that before it erupted, it would have been higher than Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.

Today, the Ngorongoro is an extensive highland area with the famous 600 m deep Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, and antelopes, many birds, and other species.

Dinner and overnight stay at an accommodation of your choice.

DAY 3: RETURN TO ARUSHA AND DEPARTURE

After an early breakfast, we will descend onto the floor of the Great Rift Valley where you will visit the Lake Manyara National Park on the last day of your 3 days safari in Tanzania. The park is highlighted with lots of trees and tree climbing lions which are often spotted taking naps on the branches. Many other animals are a common sighting in this evergreen park and they include; the impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, and the dik-diks.

On this day, you will do game drives until midday then drive to Arusha where you will be dropped at your Arusha Hotel but if you are departing today we can also drop you off at Kilimanjaro International Airport at a very nominal fee.
